Ambition is infectious.
Surrounding yourself with extremely ambitious people is the first step. But, ambition without action is useless especially when you have the opportunity right in front of you. Let me get to some facts.
I grew up in a remote town in Maharashtra, went to a Tier 2 college & took a lot of unconventional routes to land up a one way flight to Bangalore. All of it for the right opportunity.
Opportunity.
To build something that I truly find joy in & want to spend a considerable portion of my life. Sure - like most of my inner circle of friends, I was ambitious but none of it would happen if Bengaluru did not give me the “Opportunity”
I’m grateful to be able to live my dream, build products that impact so many lives through GrowthX & change the ballgame for the ecosystem we call startup India.
Having seen how ambition mixed with opportunity is magic, I want you to think of the biggest opportunity we have in-front of us as operators & founders. It’s not just Bengaluru anymore. It’s the India story.
Take the S&P 500 index in the US (a matured economy) and see how many companies in the top 50 are tech/internet businesses? Out of the first 10, at least 9 were tech/internet companies.
Now, take that ratio for India’s Nifty 50 index. Not a single tech/internet-first company in the first 10/20 - this is the opportunity I am talking about.
By 2030, over 50+ tech-first companies will be in the top 100 companies by market cap. This means we willhave a tech startup IPO every single week in 2030.
How can the India story be possible?
First, access to capital (equity/debt). Second, founders/operators building products that users need/want & are ready to pay for. Third, building the right distribution for the Indian market. And at the center of it is human capital.
The people who will figure this out - founders, marketers, product managers, engineers, analysts & startup operators. They need to be able to build the muscle to raise capital, build products and figure distribution.
This is exactly what we are building at GrowthX. In 2023, we made bolder moves to up the game on building tech first human capital, one product launch at a time. And the impact?
